Bayern coach waiting on Upamecano and Goretzka’s fitness to fill hole in defense for ‘Klassiker’

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 04:48:56 GMT

MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel is facing a tense wait to see whether Dayot Upamecano or Leon Goretzka can return from injuries in time to fill a hole in defense for Saturday’s “Klassiker” at Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.Tuchel’s plans for the game were thrown into disarray when central defender Matthijs de Ligt injured his knee in Wednesday’s 2-1 upset loss at third-division Saarbruecken in the German Cup. It remains to be seen whether Upamecano or Goretzka can return in time to partner Kim Min-jae in the center of the four-man back line. Upamecano hasn’t played since the French center back injured his hamstring on Oct. 8, while Goretzka needed surgery last month on a fracture in his hand and would have to play wearing a piece of protective equipment.Tuchel said Bayern will decide “very, very late” as the club weighs up the players’ fitness and the importance of the Dortmund game against any effect on the other nine games before ...

The fortified necropolis and surrounding settlements were built near the Atlantic Ocean along the banks of the Bou Regreg river. Findings have included bricks inscribed in neo-Punic, a language that predates the Romans’ arrival in Morocco. The main excavation site has been closed for...

DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado entered a new water year on Oct. 1, and now we are getting a look at how extremes like the wet and stormy spring of 2023 impacted the whole year. Unlike a calendar year that starts over each January, the water runs from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30. During that time, most of the country saw abnormally warm temperatures. Across the United States, the 2022-2023 water year is now officially the 17th warmest on record. In Colorado, temperatures weren't quite as extreme. Record keeping goes back to 1896, and this year, Colorado reported its 60th warmest year. While this is a pretty middle-of-the-road ranking, it is the coolest Colorado water year since 2010.Along with temperatures, the end of the water year is also a time to look at precipitation. Colorado saw the 31st wettest year, out of 128 since record keeping began. In portions of Weld, Morgan, Boulder, Adams, Denver, Arapahoe, Washington, Elbert, Douglas, and El Paso counties there was record amounts of ...

Zoo officials said preliminary findings indicated severe anemia, dehydration, an enlarged spleen, and kidney abnormalities. Further tests confirmed the diagnosis of cancer of the spleen, and due to his advanced age and poor prognosis, the decision was made to euthanize him, zoo officials said.Born in March 2008 at the San Francisco Zoo, Berani came to Zoo Miami in 2013 as part of a Species Survival Plan (SSP) recommendation.
